The Hotel is easy to find and the location is superb. The room was excellent and the views from the balcony outstanding. We had 11 days of superb weather and saw Loch Linnhe and the surrounding areas at their best. The grounds around the hotel are just large enough for an early morning or evening walk if you have a dog(s) and the harbour and stone beach provide a marine interest. The Staff were superb in all areas. Having two small dogs we ate breakfast in the ante-room, opposite the breakfast room. The menu in the restaurant is excellent The history behind the hotel and the pier provide an interesting background to the building itself and the historical documents and pictures adjacent to the breakfast room provide social context and interest for even non-railway enthusiasts. There are panoramic views from any where within the hotel grounds, the rooms, bar and restaurant. From the room balcony we saw several groups of porpoises, dolphin or small whale activity, herons and my wife saw a Golden Eagle. From the pier we saw a bloom of jellyfish. The Hotel is ideally positioned for travel North, South, East or West and we did at three trips excluding West. East: Ballachulish, 5 minutes drive, Glen Coe Visitor Centre; 12 minutes, Kinlochleven 20 minutes. North; Fort William, 30 minutes drive, the Ben Nevis/Aonach Moor Visitor Centre; approx 40 minutes, Commando Memorial, 45 minutes, Fort George, 75 minutes, and Loch Ness approximately 90 minutes - all are well worth a visit. Oban (South); approx 40 minutes provides ferry access to Isle of Mull and Tobermory and there is a sandy beach within two miles. There is a Co-Op Supermarket in Ballachulish. The Ballachulish Slate Quarry, across the road from the Co-Op is historically important and interesting and provides the opportunity for short walks or a paddle in the lake if you have a dog(s). We didn't use the hotel swimming pool so have no comment to make on the leisure facilities.

Lovely location, comfortable room with good quality bed and plenty of storage space. Acceptable bathroom for having a bath. Quite tasty food at dinner time in two restaurants ( one for guests with dogs) and gorgeous views over the loch. Nice pool and hot tub. Extra tea, coffees and milk sachets and biscuits available for guests to self serve. Very friendly staff. When I asked why room was not cleaned after the first night, they said they normally do not clean during guest’s stay but they did for us as we stayed 4 nights, which was a good result. Good quality fish served in restaurant.

The staff were all very friendly. The manager at reception was very helpful for our unexpected late arrival. The beds were very comfortable and we had a good night sleep. The hot tub and pool are kept warm which was wonderful after our long hike up a mountain. Really good views from our room. We hope to be back some day.

Lovely place, lovely food, beautiful view from the large comfortable room. Nearly overstayed as we did't want to get out of the pool :0) we got a good value "deal price" on the weekday we stayed and I'd love to have gone back for our return journey but the weekend price was too much for me :0(
